Temporary Closure & Construction Updates Infographic

Maxwell Park has been a cherished gathering place for our community for many years, and we know that closing it, even temporarily, will be difficult for many families. We want to keep you informed about the construction timeline and help you prepare for the changes ahead as we work on the Maxwell Park Expansion project.

Road Changes Beginning October 14, 2025: Starting Tuesday, October 14th, construction crews will begin installing utilities and laying pipe for the park expansion. The northernmost lane of Canyon Street will be closed to accommodate this work. The southernmost lane will remain open and will operate as two-way traffic until October 20th. We want to emphasize that Canyon Street is quite narrow for two-way traffic, so please drive slowly, watch carefully for oncoming vehicles, and be prepared to yield. Construction equipment and workers will be present in the area, so extra caution is essential for everyone’s safety.

Park Closure Beginning October 20, 2025: On October 20th, Maxwell Park will temporarily close to allow the utility work phase of the expansion to move forward. We understand this is hard news, especially for families who visit the park regularly. The work we’re doing now is essential to creating an even better park for future generations to enjoy. We expect the park to reopen in Spring 2026, we will keep you updated with regular progress reports so you can see how the expansion is coming along and know what to expect.

Water Fill Station Relocation: The spring water at Maxwell Park will remain available until October 20, 2025. After that date, we’ve opened a new water fill station at the corner of Jessop Avenue and Louis Street. This new station is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for your convenience, so you’ll have uninterrupted access to spring water throughout the construction period.

We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve this beloved community space. The temporary inconvenience will result in a significantly enhanced park that will serve our community for decades to come.
